Of all the showers we throw to celebrate events in life, baby showers are one of the most exciting! Sometimes, they are hard to shop for though. The most common gifts to give at baby showers are diapers, blankets & clothes….which are great gifts! If you are a parent, you know all of those are necessary items!

But, when throwing my baby shower, my favorite gifts were those that were not on my registry. Typically, there is more thought that goes into these gifts. Now, I would recommend getting gifts off of baby registries, if they have one, because those are usually gifts that the parents need (& you know they will like them because they registered for them). But, I also recommend branching out & getting something they will love, that may not be on their registry.

The best baby shower gifts to give are sometimes not on registries. Most people register for items that registry sites recommend, those items that pop up first on searches. But, I hope here to help you find the best baby shower gifts to give that parents will actually use!

I want to break this into a couple sections, mainly baby & momma. Usually with a baby shower, you give gifts for the baby (duh!). But, I like to remember the momma as well, I mean, she is the one carrying this life for 9 months! So, I want to cover the best baby shower gifts for baby AND the best baby shower gifts for mommas! I will save my favorite section for the end though. I LOVE gifts that are DIY, I think they mean more. So in the last section of baby & momma, I’ll list some gifts you can put together!

Let’s start with baby gifts, since this is a baby shower 🙂

Best Baby Shower Gifts – For Baby

Lounger:

This is a little more of a spendy gift, but the momma to be will thank you for it! I want to highlight two “loungers” here because both of these are awesome! The first one is the Snuggle Me Organic Lounger. What I love about this product is it is 100% organic cotton, so the fabric is amazing! Plus, it is made in the USA 🙂

Snuggle Me Lounger

The second lounger I suggest is the DockATot. The Snuggle Me Lounger is smaller than the DoctATot. It is designed to “hug your baby”, which is how it differs from the DockATot. The design of the Snuggle Me Lounger is made to curve around the baby’s back & pull in around them – which is how it “hugs” your baby. It is known to comfort & calm your baby, so mommas will it!

Other aspects about this gift you, & the momma to be, will love:

  • certified organic – which means non-toxic, hypoallergenic & free from all harmful chemicals
  • gives baby the sensation of being held & touched
  • the design helps keep the baby on their back & in place
  • machine washable!
  • lightweight
  • can use from newborn to 9 months
  • can be used for lounging, tummy time & as a changing pad
  • easy to travel with!
  • full refund if the momma doesn’t 100% love it!
  • lots of colors to pick from

DockATot

The DockATot is very similar to the Snuggle Me Organic, but it can be used longer. The DockATot comes in two sizes; the Delux+ (which can be used 0-8 months) and the Grand (which can be used from 9-36 months). If the momma to be plans on co-sleeping with their little one, this would be an awesome gift too. Regardless, the DockATot is great for just letting your baby lounge, you don’t have to worry about them rolling off anything!

The DoctATot is definitely more well-known than the Snuggle Me Organic, but really they are very similar!

Here are some aspect of the DoctATot that mothers love:

  • machine washable
  • Oeko-tex certified (certified safe & gentle on children’s skin)
  • non-heat harboring
  • no harmful substances
  • 100% cotton covers
  • child-safe zippers
  • travel friendly

MonBaby(A) Baby Monitor with Sensor Alarm

Most likely, the parents to be will register for a baby monitor. Chances are though, they haven’t heard about the MonBaby Baby Monitor. What’s great about this, is it is more than just a device that tells you if your baby is crying. Especially with new parents, who are trying to figure out how to be parents (& care for a tiny human) this is great. This monitor works with an app that you download onto your phone. Plus, this is a very affordable gift!

This monitor tracks temperature, breathing and movement. This is a snap on monitor, so it just snaps onto any onesie or pajama. It’s safe to use, so momma won’t have to worry about her baby pulling it off. The momma will love that she gets notified if there is a change in temp around the baby, if her babys breathing is off or if her baby moves (onto tummy).

Other parts of this gift the momma to be will love:

  • she can pick what alerts are sent to her phone when a problem is detected
  • safe & easy to use
  • baby will not outgrow this monitor, so it can be used for a long time!
  • parents can sleep knowing that their baby is well looked after with this monitor
  • real time tracking – baby is being tracked multiple times per second!
  • Perfect for traveling!!

Like I mentioned before, this monitor works with an app. In the app, it will track your baby & display the results to you in easy display charts & visuals!

Personalized Milestone Blanket

A lot of moms will register for milestone blankets, but I think gifts are so much more special when you can personalize them. So, I encourage, when giving baby shower gifts, to personalize the gifts if you can. Some moms pick to keep the gender a surprise, and or the name too. So, that will limit what you can do but you can always get creative. For example, if the momma is waiting to find out the gender, or reveal the name, you could write something like “sweet baby boy/girl” or “sweet baby” or even “loved little one”. Get creative 🙂

More often than not, moms will get a new milestone blanket with each baby. That’s why I really encourage personalizing them! These are another affordable gift! I also like that they will last longer than clothes & will be looked at for years to come (since they will be in pictures each month/year of the little ones life). I would recommend going to Etsy to find these. There are so many to pick from!

NECTAR Baby Humidifier & Diffuser

Again, with my website, I like to focus on natural & organic products & solutions for moms and kids. This is an awesome gift for that. Below, I’ll include a “kit” that includes this product (Humidifier & Diffuser) along with some other products that moms can use with it, if you would like to give more than just this product. But, let’s talk about why I love this & why other moms will too.

This is more than just a humidifier & diffuser. Moms will love using this because it is easy to use, easy to clean & for all of these following aspects:

  • BPA free – so safe for babies & pregnant women
  • Diffuser – can add essential oils to the water (there are so many benefits to using essential oils, one being it can help your baby sleep!)
  • Ultra-quiet design: helps baby sleep
  • Sleep Mode: helps improve quality of sleep
  • Bluetooth Speakers: links to moms mobile device to play music, lullaby & soothing white noise
  • Lights Up: 7 different light colors
  • Remote
  • Runs on a timer
  • Waterless Auto Off – will shut off when out of water

Diffuser Bundle

With the product I mentioned above, it is nice to give some oils and ideas on how best to use the diffuser. I have a diffuser going almost all the time in my home. There are so many different oils you can use that have so many different benefits for you. You can buy just a simple diffuser for the mom, but this one is perfect for babies since it offers more than just the diffusing option.

With the diffuser though, if you are willing to spend a little more, I recommend giving some oils & a book on how to use essential oils – just to get mom started.

This book will outline how to safely use essential oils with kids & babies. It outlines 200 remedies, essential oil blends, moms can use on their kiddos along with recipes that mom can use to mix their own essential oils. It also walks through different essential oils so mom can learn their medicinal properties, how to use them & come precautions to take with them. What’s really nice about this book is it will cover how to use essential oils for pregnancy, birth & for children. So no matter where the mom to be is at (pregnant, already has kids, etc.) she will be able to use this book!

The last piece I would recommend giving with this diffuser is essential oils. You can give one or as many as you would like! If you plan on just giving one, I would give Gentle Baby by Young Living. This essential oil is actually a blend of a few different oils that helps calm babies. I have a friend who used this on her baby with Colic & she said she wouldn’t live without it! Otherwise, some other options to give would be Lavender, Geranium, Sweet Orange or Chamomile.

Little Spoon

This is a gift for the baby but will also greatly benefit the mom as well. Little Spoon is a company that makes fresh, organic baby food. Two ways you can gift this; a gift card or a box. With a gift card, the momma-to-be can go to the website & order what she wants. They make it simple, all she has to do is take a quiz that will tell them about her baby & what the mom wants out of her baby food. She can then pick from organic fresh food that uses over 80 organic ingredients. They then get delivered right to her door, every other week (which she can adjust the time or cancel at any time!).

The other option is to gift her with a box. With this option, you can send a box of fresh baby food right to her door. You can pick from 14, 28 or 42 baby food “blends” (so, jars of baby food).

What I love about Little Spoon, if first their ingredients. I LOVE that everything is fresh & organic. Especially since this food is going straight to a developing baby! But, I also love the options they have. You can pick how you want your baby food. If you have a really young baby, you can pick to have the food pureed really smooth. For older babies, you can get the food a little more “textured”. You can also buy the food based on how you want to benefit your baby; for brain benefits, eye benefits, immunity benefits, etc.

Not to mentioned that I love the convenience of it. Everything is delivered right to your door, no running to the grocery store. There has been a lot of talk in the new lately about baby food containing 95% toxic metals. With this, you don’t have to worry about that. No more added hassle with making your own baby food either!

DIY Get Well Basket for Baby

What I love about this is that it isn’t just a gift bought off of a registry BUT it is filled with goodies that momma will love and USE! What is hard, especially as first time parents, is when your little one gets sick. All you want to do is make them feel better but you don’t really know how, they can’t tell you what is wrong! Having been through taking care of sick littles, these are products that I have tried and trusted…and I know other moms stand behind them as well!

So, for this basket, I recommended putting the essentials mom will need for when her little one gets sick. Again, for me, the following are the products that I would say are a must have for when my baby gets sick. I like to focus on natural & organic products, especially for a little one. So, know that these products are definitely safe to use with babies 🙂

What is also great about this gift is that you can add or take away depending on your preferences and/or price point!

  • Chest Rub
  • Thermoeter
  • Nose Aspirator
  • Cough/Mucus Syrup
  • Nasal Spray
  • Essential Oil
  • Baby Diffuser

DIY Healthy Baby Basket

With this gift basket, I want to focus on natural & organic products that will help keep those babies healthy. It’s bound to happen, babies are going to get sick. But, we want to do what we can to prevent this from happening. These are awesome products to help keep little ones healthy that mom will love:

  • Immune Support
  • Probiotic Drops
  • Vitamin D
  • Multivitamin
  • Balm
  • Bottom Balm
  • Essential Oil
  • Baby Diffuser

DIY Teething Baby Basket

Teething is a stage during a baby’s life that you just can’t avoid. This can be such a tough stage for those little ones too. Give moms a basket that will prepare them well for this stage in life.

Most of the products listed in this basket are self-explanatory but I’ll explain why I put a few of them in here.

I am including the essential oil in this basket because it can help babies sleep & those mommas out there know that especially during the teething stage, sleep can be hard to come by. These essentials oils not only help babies sleep but also help calm them.

Bibs will be important especially during this teething state, but will come into play pretty much all the time. Drooling just increases significantly when teething, so those mommas will want some bibs!

  • Gum massage gel
  • Tooth Oil
  • Pacifier
  • Teething Toy
  • Bib
  • Toothbrush
  • Teething Necklace

DIY All Natural Baby Basket

I like this basket for babies because you can put a bunch of different products that the mom will need! Throw some products in there that are for when the baby is sick, to help keep the little one healthy, some toys & other natural products that momma will love for her little one!

  • Teething Oil
  • Teething Toy
  • Gripe Water
  • Essential Oil Book
  • Essential Oils

Best Baby Shower Gifts – For Mom

I think we covered the babies pretty well, now I want to focus on the mommas. Like I mentioned before, baby showers always focus on the baby (which they definitely should) but I don’t want to forget about the mommas. I mean, she is the one doing all of the work right now! And for some, pregnancy is a very long, hard 9 months. So, lets treat the moms as well 🙂

Bump Box

Bump Boxes are awesome gifts for moms, especially if she is early in her pregnancy. What I love about these is it gives mom something to look forward to. Pregnancy can be really hard for some moms, and of course they are looking forward to meeting their little one, but during the pregnancy it can seem like forever until that happens. Bump Boxes can be that little something extra to keep the mom going until she gets to meet her little one. Each box contains products that the mom will actually use! They are hand-picked by moms, so know all of the products are tried and trusted by moms! They are what other moms have considered “must haves” during their pregnancy.

With these, you can pick different subscriptions so the mom could get a box every month or trimester (or something in between). So this really is a gift that will keep on giving. The momma will look forward to each month (or trimester, or whatever you chose) to getting her bump box!

Meals

I promise, this is going to be a gift that EVERY mom will LOVE and thank you for! Cooking is one part of life that never goes away but always needs to be done. As a mom, this can be difficult, especially after just having a baby. Recovery is hard enough, but when you think about caring for your family on top of that, it can be really hard. Giving moms the gift of meals takes work & a lot of stress off of their plates (no pun intended 🙂 ) during this transition time.

What is nice about this, is that it is all fresh and healthy ingredients delivered right to your doorstep. So moms will love not only the continence of this but also the healthy factor. Not only did they just give birth, but they are recovering from that AS WELL AS caring for a newborn. The simple gift of a meal can take away a lot of stress for a new mother. Not only that, it helps them eat well since they don’t have to do all the work of preparing and cooking a meal.

Especially if they are nursing, it is important that they eat well so their bodies can keep producing. Benefits the baby as well 🙂

Home Chef is just one option in the meal delivery service. I wrote a review of them here but I’ll outline a little bit of what they offer & why I like them. So, who are they?

Home Chef is a meal delivery service. You can pick from chef-inspired recipes & have them delivered right to your door. They offer a couple different options for their meals, so depending on which on you pick will determine how much prep time it takes. But, everything you need for the meal is included in the box! No grocery shopping! This is why it is so awesome for moms! Not only do we not have to worry about what to cook for dinner, we don’t have to go to the grocery store!

I outline all the options they offer in my other post on Home Chef, but the one I would recommend to gift to mommas would be the oven ready meals. This means there is no prep required, no mess, and NO DISHES 🙂 Everything you need to make this dish is already together in the cooking tray.

Necklace

I love this gift for moms as well. This works best if you know the babys name but I know there are a lot of moms that won’t announce the name until after their little one is born. But, I love these necklaces that have the babys name on them. What’s nice about these, is some of them allow you to add more later. So, if the mom has more kids, or plans on having more kids, then she can just add to the necklace! That way you can get the momma new add-ons to her necklace for the next kiddos she has too 🙂

Labor, Delivery, Postpartum Basket

This is awesome. This has everything from labor to delivery to postpartum. In the following section I will have some baskets you can put together yourself, including a postpartum one. However, if you don’t want to do it yourself, this is an awesome option! Usually moms don’t register for these types of things but I promise you, she will want to be prepared in this way!

Plus, a lot of the time we get wrapped up in baby things that we forget about preparing ourselves! What this includes is:

  • Peri Bottle
  • 4 Underwear
  • 4 Instant Ice Maxi Padsicles
  • Witch Hazel Pad Liners (24 pack) – THESE ARE A LIFE SAVER
  • Perineal Healing Foam
  • Toiletry Bag
  • Caddy
  • Deilivery & Nursing Gown
  • Labor & Delivery Socks

Moving into the DIY section for moms….my favorite section 🙂

Wallet Gift

This is a gift that is really nice for both the mom & the dad, depending on what you do with it. The idea behind this, is that you give a wallet to the momma-to-be that has gift cards in it. So, this can be a WIDE range of things. I would recommend picking a “theme” for the wallet & then putting gift cards in there around that.

So, you can put gift cards in there for the baby, for the momma to pamper herself or gift cards to go eat before the little one arrives!

Example themes, and gift cards, would be:

  • Date Night: fill the wallet with gift cards for mom & dad to go out a few dates before their baby comes
    • GIFT CARDS: any restaurant gift cards, dessert gift cards, movie theater, etc.
  • Pamper Wallet: fill the wallet with gift cards to pamper mom before baby
    • GIFT CARDS: nail salon gift cards, massage gift card, shopping gift card, etc.
  • Mom & Baby Wallet:

DIY Postpartum Basket

For all my fellow mommas out there, you know how hard postpartum can be. A postpartum basket will contain products that will help the momma get through those rough few weeks. Some of these products will be a necessity for the momma, others will just be to pamper her…so pick and choose what you want in the basket 🙂

Baths are known to help SO MUCH with healing postpartum…and I totally agree with that! Epsom salts are also awesome for this! I added essential oils to my bath as well. Really, it greatly helps in the healing process!

These are the products I would want if I got a postpartum basket (plus, some fun extras):

  • Nipple Cream
  • Epsom Salt
  • Essential Oil
  • Nail Polish
  • Water Bottle
  • Nursing Bra
  • 5 Piece Maternity & Nursing PJ

DIY Nursing Basket

This is a perfect gift if the mom plans on breastfeeding. Nursing takes a lot out of a mom. She needs to take care of her body properly to be able to nurse & care for her little one. Not to mention, once she sits down to nurse, she’s stuck there for a while. So, this is perfect for moms to have wherever they plan on nursing. They will have everything they need right next to them!

Each of the items I picked for this basket, I picked for a reason. Moms will want these when she is nursing:

  • Water bottle
  • Nipple Cream
  • Nursing Pads
  • Burp Cloths
  • Nursing Cover
  • Cooling Pads
  • Lactation Support – Milk Boosting Supplement
  • Snacks
  • Hair Ties
  • Tea

DIY Momma Day & Night Basket

This is just a fun basket for moms, to pamper them 🙂 Start those mommas off in the morning with coffee & finish their day with wine (with some awesome “mom” labels). I would say that none of these items are necessary for moms, but they will definitely enjoy using them! If you do decide to give this gift, I would recommend buying something off their registry as well (something for the baby).

Same thing goes for this basket as with the others, pick & choose which items you want in your basket:

  • Wine (with funny labels)
  • Wine glass
  • Mask
  • Nail Polish
  • Coffee
  • Coffee cup

If there are other baby shower gifts that you love to give, mention them in a comment below! If you want help building out a DIY basket, comment below or email me, I would love to help you fill a basket full of goodies for a baby or momma!

All the best,

Abby
